Employee profile: Erk Johannsen

Until he was 40 years old, Johannsen was a merchant shipping captain, after which he held a civil servant position as a building service technician at a school and kindergarten. His main tasks in the vineyard include soil preparation, setting up storm protection to safeguard the shoots against stiff breezes, and working with a string trimmer to control weeds and brush.

He particularly likes the fact that the job enables him to be out in the fresh air and it permits him flexibility in scheduling his time – vineyard operations depend primarily on the weather.
