Located in a corner of Millenia Walk in Singapore, our restaurant glassy exterior with its sidewalk alfreasco lounge invites guests to step into its dynamic space incorporating a restaurant, a wine bar and retail-cellar.

 

Paired with a menu featuring contemporary Swiss cuisine, the food and wines presented enhance each other, elevating guests’ culinary experience to a new level.

 

Our Swiss heritage:

Launched in August 2009 in Singapore, the Restaurant & Wine Bar by Wine Universe is a joint venture by fourth-generation Swiss vintner, Dominique Giroud and Swiss owner, Claude Dizerens. Dominique is also the man behind Wine Universe, a leading wine retailer and brokerage in Switzerland. With partner Claude, this international endeavor, a first for both, is a perfect pairing of passion and food & beverage expertise.

 

 

Tell us something about you and your job at your place.

 

Here in Singapore I welcome business customers every day and share with them our passion for wines! Day by day we introduce new references and wines from the old world tending slowly to move the consumers out of the road of marketing and industrial wines.

 

Beside this we are busy in importing wines and place them in the good hotels and restaurants in town. Singapore is very interesting as we do have a lot of various chefs and cuisine, which forces us to be really diversified in our wine selection and wine offer.

 

 

What is it that you like about working with wine?

 

Born in Valais in the middle of the beautiful vineyards from Switzerland, I am wine lover since very young and it was natural that I started exporting wines from my country and from the major winegrowing countries in Europe.

 

 

How did you get to know Balthasar Ress and what do you like about our wines?

 

I met Stefan Ress first time at Prowein in Düsseldorf 5 or 6 years ago when I stopped for a short tasting and finally spend more than one hour, listening to the fantastic stories about Rheingau Riesling. A couple of years later his son Christian came to Singapore. We became friends and decided to work together. The wines from Balthasar Ress are perfect for our market ranging from dry and mineral to beautiful sweet wines with always a very nice mineral structure, perfect with the humidity and heat of Singapore.

 

 

What would you like to tell Balthasar Ress?

We always enjoy to drink some bottles of the Von Unserm Rheingau Riesling trocken with a group of German and Austrian friends coming regularly to Wine Universe because they simply love this wine and…. they can drink more than one case… Cheers!
