Stefan has been with us since September 2012. The 29-year-old Pfälzer is a trained cellar master who worked at the cooperative winery in Forst/Pfalz before coming to the Rheingau. As a native of the Pfalz, he grew up with Riesling, and thus, he fits in well at Balthasar Ress. Stefan is a quiet, straightforward, and ambitious young man, and a true sports freak in his free time. That's quite unusual for someone whose job requires considerable physical labor. His repertoire includes all kinds of endurance sports - even boxing.

Stefan is our assistant cellar master and assists our estate manager. His responsibilities are diverse and very demanding. He's not only involved in winemaking, but also materials management, bottling, and labeling. He is a perfect complement to our young, highly motivated team.
