Editorial June 2012
We mark the date in red on our calendar and we’re
already looking forward to this year’s auction.
This autumn, our 2009 Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling Auslese
will come under the hammer. It’s a very special wine, originally
conceived to be part of the blend for our RESSpekt Riesling. The
individual components of the RESSpekt cuvée all underwent
spontaneous fermentation, without the addition of cultured yeast.
The
auction wine Auslese is the portion that simply stopped fermenting on
its own, thereby retaining a fantastic ripe, natural sweetness. The
wine was was handcrafted in the tradition of the great Rheingau
Rieslings that graced the tables of kings and emperors throughout
Europe at the beginning of the 20th century...a time in which German
Rieslings were among the most sought-after and expensive wines of the
world.
If you’re interested in this wine (limited to 84 bottles), please
contact us info@balthasar-ress.de. We’ll be happy to put you in
touch with a wine broker who can
bid on your behalf.
Best regards and greetings from the Rheingau,
Christian Ress
