Editorial April 2012

The first tastings of the young 2011 wines have been particularly promising. Why not take advantage of the first mild days of spring for an excursion to the Rheingau? We’ll gladly show you our fantastic vineyard sites up close during a wine hike– in conjunction with a little tasting in the vineyards. In the past, we only offered these special tastings during our annual vintage presentation. Now, you can book such a vineyard visit and tasting year-round. Simply contact Kristina Vaassen to make an appointment.

We and our VDP colleagues cordially invite you to join us at this year’s Börsentreff, a casual get-together open to all after the first day of the trade fair “Weinbörse” (open to the trade and press only). Wine-growers, trade visitors, and wine enthusiasts have a chance to meet one another at the restaurant Bootshaus, Am Winterhafen, in Mainz. Michelin-starred chef Frank Buchholz is responsible for the culinary delights; the VDP’s “young generation” of growers, for first-class wines. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with all kinds of kindred “wine” spirits from Germany and abroad while relaxing with our wines and the sounds of the band Krüger Rockt. I look forward to seeing you there.

Best regards and greetings from the Rheingau,

Christian Ress
