Balthasar Ress at the Rheingau Wine Week

Enjoy the Rheingau Wine Week without stress: reserve a table in advance, and order a platter of cheese, too.

Stand-up bistro tables abound but seats are at a premium at the Rheingau Wine Week. All the more reason to take advantage of Balthasar Ress’s beer garden seating (long tables and benches) adjacent to our wine booth. Tables can accommodate up to ten persons. See below for details on how to reserve one of our eight tables in advance.

 

We’ve planned ahead for all your culinary needs: wines from Balthasar Ress; still and sparkling mineral water from Gerolsteiner; and cheese from Wiesbadener Bergkäsestation, Till Biebricher’s Alpine cheese shop. Till sources the majority of his organic cheese from his brother Jan’s Alpine dairy in Bavaria. As a special service, you can preorder a platter of cheese up to 24 hours prior to your visit to the wine festival and have it delivered directly to your reserved table. Gabi Würtz is in charge of our wine booth. She and her team look forward to welcoming you to the Balthasar Ress stand. It is located on the back side of the Rathaus (town hall) on the large square called Dernsches Gelände (which is also the name of the closest bus stop). When facing the back side of the Rathaus, look for us on the far right corner of the building.
Our wine booth is open from Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.

A note for newcomers: This year is the 36th annual Rheingau Wine Week. Some 100 wine-growers from throughout the entire Rheingau wine region present ca. 10-14 different wines and sparkling wines at their stands. In order to minimize glass breakage and litter, each stand requests a bottle and/or wine glass Pfand (deposit) that is fully refundable when the bottle and/or glass are returned. Of course, you might want to keep your wine glass as a souvenir of your visit.
