Wine of the month: December 2011

In 2009, we produced a very special wine: RESSpekt – in homage of the wine’s appellation of origin, the outstanding vineyards on the Rüdesheimer Berg. The individual components for the RESSpekt cuvée all underwent spontaneous fermentation, without the addition of cultured yeast. Our wine of the month is a portion of the RESSpekt cuvée – a batch that simply stopped fermenting on its own, thereby retaining some of its ripe, natural sweetness. We’ve nicknamed it our “sweet RESSpekt.”

This wine – a limited edition (every bottle is tagged with an eye-catching RESSpekt necker) – is well worth sampling. It was handcrafted in the tradition of the great Rheingau Rieslings that graced the tables of kings and emperors throughout Europe at the beginning of the 20th century...a time in which German Rieslings were among the most sought-after and expensive wines of the world.
