The year 1989 has gone down in history as a very special year. It was the year of dramatic political changes. What better time or way to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall than to open a bottle of vintage 1989 wine? Our Auslese from the Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen site is a very special wine. Now amber in color, it has matured beautifully. It has a honeyed fragrance, with a hint of tobacco. On the palate, it is still fresh and stimulating. It shows no perceptible negative aging tones; its natural ripe sweetness has mellowed; and it has reached a wonderful state of balance. By the way, it is delicious with ripe cheese.

 

Our 1989 Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen was the dessert wine served at a dinner in Buckingham Palace on the occasion of the 75th birthday of the world-renowned cellist Rostropovich as part of the festivities during the golden jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
