Lasting Value

The wine auction held within the venerable walls of the former Cistercian monastery Kloster Eberbach took place just three days ago. Once again in our world today, we can see that there are still “lasting values”. We are happy to report that the esteem shown for the Riesling rarities that we sold at auction last year (Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese) continues. At this year’s auction our 2007 Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese fetched € 650 per 750-ml bottle, or 333% more than the minimum opening bid set at € 150.

Yet the auction results for other wines – such as our Berg Rottland Riesling Spätlese – also demonstrated that even in turbulent times, connoisseurs still value quality. The minimum opening bid per 750-ml bottle was set at € 15, but the wine went under the hammer for € 24.
