­For someone born in northern Germany - he comes from Hameln - he's made a somewhat unusual career choice: he wants to be a wine-grower and is finishing up his viticultural studies at the Hochschule Geisenheim University. In fact, Christian's decision came about more or less by accident. His father had made numerous excursions to Rüdesheim and repeatedly told Christian about the beauty of the Rhine and its tasty wines. When it was clear that he really wasn't interested in studying history, and that he wanted to work with his hands, he remembered what his father had told him. He headed for the Rhine and immediately fell in love with both the landscape and the wine. He used to play soccer himself, and today remains an avid fan of Germany's most successful soccer team. His other great love: the red wines of Burgundy.
