Wine of the month: July 2011

For more than a century, “Von Unserm” has been the “calling card” of the estate. The practice of using “Von Unserm” to denote specially selected wines was started by Balthasar Ress, who founded the estate bearing his name in 1870.

The Rieslings for this wine are from the estate’s most important sites throughout the Rheingau and are carefully blended into a harmonious cuvée. On the nose: citrus fruits and green apple. Its stable acidity and robust extract make it a very good companion with food. Try the 2010 “Von Unserm” Riesling with baked ewes’ milk (sheep) cheese, marinated tuna
or green salads.
