In 2009, the state of Schleswig-Holstein secured planting rights from the state of Rheinland-Pfalz
for ten hectares (ca. 25 acres) of vines to henceforth produce Landwein from Schleswig-Holstein
- just prior to the new EU wine market reform regulations went into effect. Weingut Balthasar Ress
bid for a piece of this vineyard area - 0.3 ha (0.74 acres) - and received it. This first wine
(Solairs/Rivaner) is expected to be available in 2013. This new Balthasar Ress Gutswein will be
labeled with its degree of latitude: "55° Grad Nord" (55th degree north).

Winery webcam
Our
webcam sends live pictures from the Hattenheimer Nussbrunnen vineyard, our press house, and our bottling hall. Webcam transmissions end when there is longer sufficient light, and the final pictures of the day are sent at night.
