Our new price list 2016/2017 is available...

... and as always, we’ve gone to great efforts to prepare it. It doesn’t merely list our wines, but rather it’s a booklet in which we attempt to explain how we work and what we do. You can download a German version of the price list here. The new price list is effective as of 1 May 2016.

 

More or less “new” are our “Natürlich Ress” (Naturally Ress) wines. In recent years, as we have pursued a new path in our efforts to produce authentic native wines, we’ve frequently questioned our methods and measures and we’ve carefully monitored our wines. The latter was necessary not least due to the lengthy time some of our wines needed to completely ferment. In the course of this process, we discovered some very fundamental things, the most important of which is the fact that extremely long aging on the lees significantly contributes to the stability of our wines. This, in turn, means that our wines have needed little, if any, sulfur - the additive that helps stabilize a wine. It’s essential in wines with residual sugar; less so in dry wines. While we do not number among those who fundamentally oppose the use of sulfur, we do critically question to what extent it is necessary. It seems to us that unsulfured wines seem to be more open and better able to reveal their true character. Of course, this only pertains to meticulously produced wines that have undergone total fermentation. Stability and longevity are the marks of well-made wines - even without the addition of sulfur. Why turn to additives if they aren’t needed.

 

To make these wines more easily recognizable in the future and provide them with a look of their own, we’ve developed a completely new label. It features one of our estate’s historic logos in the center and includes either a reference to the wine’s method of production (e.g., orange) or to the number of months it spent on the coarse lees.

 

“Rheinaguer Schlemmerwochen” (gourmet week)

Our in-house wine pub during the Rheingau’s annual gourmet weeks has been extremely popular with many wine enthusiasts during the past couple of years - reason enough to open the doors to our estate manor for this year’s event. In addition to a selection of our current wines as well as a few mature vintages, you can look forward to an array of delectable culinary treats from Gabi Würtz. Come enjoy some country cooking prepared exclusively with fresh ingredients sourced primarily from our region.
