Employee profile: Clemens von Eltz

Visiting customers around the world and offering them advice on Balthasar Ress wines make for a fascinating job – these are the tasks of our export manager, Clemens von Eltz.

Since August 2008, Clemens von Eltz has been export manager at Balthasar Ress, responsible for communication with our customers. The job entails everything from preparing and processing customers’ orders to personally visiting them on site, be it in Germany or abroad.

“The contact with people around the world and adapting to the many different cultures, tastes, and habits one is exposed to day in and day out are what make this job so fascinating,” says von Eltz. "It’s a big world and every customer, large or small, has his or her individual needs.” The export manager is personally committed to making Balthasar Ress wines available worldwide and providing each and every customer with the best service possible.

After completing his wine-growers’ training, 34-year-old von Eltz studied viticulture and oenology at the University of Applied Sciences/Geisenheim. He gained valuable practical experience in numerous wine-growing countries before accepting a position as a management assistant at the German Wine-growers’ Association and Association of German Wine Exporters in Bonn in 2005. In addition to his role as a contact person for and representative on behalf of export companies, he was primarily responsible for organizing “Intervitis Interfructa,” a trade fair featuring technology for wine, fruit, and fruit juice production.

According to von Eltz: “Positive feedback from customers with a genuine interest in wine is simply the greatest experience. I also really enjoy being part of a young team with so many ideas and such an innovative spirit.”
